Lisa and Earl's 40th Anniversary!

This is my host family from 2002. We were invited to their 40th anniversary today. They have the biggest house in the neighborhood and the party was in their backyard. Their daughter-in-law, Amy, prepared pasta, salsa chips, macaroni, chocolate cake, marinated beans, fruit salad, spinach salad, pineapple punch, candies, snacks, bread and paste, .... due to the lack of my vocabulary, I can't give them fancy names, but Amy can prepare a professional party for 2,000 people and all her meals were sophisticated and fantastic!
The middle man, who is doing the toast, is a 100+ -year-old Scottish gentleman. Earl and Lisa had to repeat after him exactly again and again, otherwise he broke them apart and they had to start over again!
At our 40th anniversary, Jacob will be 61 and I will be 65. This is still obtainable, right? At 50th, Jacob will be 71 and I will be 75.... Mnn, I have more respect for these anniversaries^^
When I lived with them, I was at a "confused state." I was losing myself in the middle of drama tornados, and I used to envy their "boring(=stable)" lives, in their own words. Now I have a pretty stable life too, thanks to Earl and Lisa, and Kelly and Mitzi, my other host families. They have always been my good examples. Now I treasure my not-so-crazy life too!
We went there right after church, so we were in our Sunday best...

Looks like fun! 50 year wedding anniversaries are completely attainable- right? Let's see- I would be 70 and Jon would be 72 . . . that's not too old, is it? You will totally make it too . . .

I never thought these few years in the 20th would make a huge difference later on. It could mean survival anniversaries! You made good decisions (though we never think this way in sacrament meetings...) to have married and had many children early. I know once we become grandmothers, we will be talking only about grandchildren! Our rear-ends are on fire to have more children but I just don't get pregnated lately. Should we look into adoption???
